We collaborated with Local Government agency FRIM (Mar'21) , to conduct detail study into Agarwood field.
Sharing our expertise and experience, we have inoculated 20 Agarwood Trees, ranging from Aquilaria Malaccensis and Sinesis , using these species as basis for FRIM research.
Work location in Maran, Pahang, we have completed 20 large trees with an average of 10-15 years old trees, 30cm in diameter and 20 ft tall trees in FRIM reserves farm.
Discussion and sharing took place throughout our inoculation work, and exchanging critical view on how Agarwood forms it resin within the tree. Resin is formed only when the tree is being “injured” , and resin is part of the recovery process that heals the "injured" section of the tree. It is the resin that we extract and distilled into Oud.
The tree will continue to heal , and if the tree recovery process is complete, there will not be resin left to be extracted to Oud. Therefore distillers will lose out and probably distilled a wood without any result or Oud.
We hope to contribute as much resources as we can, for the better future of Malaysia Agarwood Industry, and hopefully leveraging benefits from the results and analysis being conducted
Looking forward in reviewing the results in 6months time.
